Speculations grow around Khabib Nurmagomedov making a return to UFC

There have been a lot of rumours regarding the return of Russian MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov to UFC.

Khabib retired in October 2019 after winning against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He won that fight via technical submission to defend and re-unify the UFC lightweight championship.

He announced his retirement in the post-fight interview, saying that he does not want to fight without his father at ringside. The announcement meant that Khabib, who started his professional MMA career in 2008, retired with a perfect 29-0 record.

As expected, MMA fans all over the globe have felt his absence since his retirement and many want him back inside the octagon with rumours of him potentially fighting one of Georges St-Pierre or Conor McGregor.

While there has been no indication or official announcement yet regarding his return, a tweet by his agent Ali Abdelaziz has hinted towards something.

Ali Abdelaziz gets flak from MMA fans for trying to force a return upon Khabib Nurmagomedov

Ali Abdelaziz, the president of Dominance MMA management, managers several UFC stars, with one of them being Khabib Nurmagomedov.

As slimy as we know agents can be, Abdelaziz probably realizes the potential profits that Nurmagomedov’s return can generate. In a tweet made on Friday, Abdelaziz wrote “Decision time #khabib“.

The tweet undoubtedly refers to asking Khabib Nurmagomedov to make a decision on his return soon. However, fans didn’t like it one bit.

While more eager than any else to see the 32-year-old make his UFC return, MMA fans understand the emotional background of Khabib announcing his retirement and probably feel that Abdelaziz is rushing him too much.

Some of the fans replied by asking Abdelaziz to not use the tactic of putting public pressure on the Russian to force him into making a return. Others wanted the announcement to come from Khabib himself.
