“You kissed the GOAT” – Twitter reacts as Bethanie Mattek-Sands posts a photo of her kissing Serena Williams

US duo Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Serena Williams seemed to be having some fun off the court after their Federation Cup Qualifiers

US tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands posted a photo of herself kissing teammate and legend of the game Serena Williams on her twitter handle after their nation’s win against Latvia in the Federation Cup Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Both the ladies seemed to be having some fun time as it was evident from the photos that Mattek-Sands posted, as the pair could be seen smiling, kissing and hugging each other.

To spice things up a little bit, 34-year-old Mattek-Sands had shared the pictures in her social media handle with the caption: “I kissed a girl and I liked it”

At 38 and 34 years of age respectively, both Serena and Mattek-Sands are the senior-most members of a squad which includes Alison Riske (30), Australian Open Champion Sofia Kenin (21) and teenager Coco Gauff (15).

Meanwhile, Mattek-Sands’ post was immediately met with some reactions from the Twitterati, and here are a few:

Serena has won 39 Grand Slam titles (singles, doubles mixed doubles combined), while Mattek-Sands is an Olympic gold medallist (Rio 2016 mixed doubles) and a 9-time Grand Slam winner.

The two women are happily married and were clearly having some fun time off the court after their side managed to secure a spot in the Federation Cup finals overcoming Latvia.

Meanwhile, in the Federation Cup Qualifiers, USA overcame Latvia 3-2 in a closely fought encounter in the first-ever meeting between the sides.

Despite having more experienced and higher ranked players, the USA side had to battle it out against the Latvians, who displayed some real fighting spirit. USA will now be joined in April’s inaugural 12-nation Finals in Budapest by Spain, Russia, Germany, Belarus, Switzerland, Belgium, and Slovakia, in addition to Australia, France, Czech Republic and hosts Hungary.
