Predicted Liverpool XI to face Watford in the Premier League

Liverpool will welcome Watford at Anfield on Wednesday as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to move on from the 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

The Reds have now failed to score for two consecutive games, although they moved a point clear of Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League on Sunday.

Watford, meanwhile, are flying at the moment and come into Wednesday’s game off the back of three consecutive victories.

Team News

Dejan Lovren will miss out with a hamstring injury, while Joe Gomez is not due until the end of March.

Roberto Firmino is a doubt after being forced off against United with an ankle injury.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson Becker (GK)

The Brazilian has kept 15 clean sheets so far in the Premier League and has been Klopp’s no.1 since his summer arrival from AS Roma.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign for the Reds. He is expected to get the nod ahead of Milner at right-back.

Joel Matip (CB)

Matip has looked good alongside Van Dijk and will retain his place in the team against Watford.

Van Dijk1

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

A commanding defender, Van Dijk is one of the first names on Klopp’s team sheet. The Dutchman, however, will have to be at the top of his game to keep the Watford attackers at bay.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

Robertson has had an excellent campaign for Liverpool and should start on Wednesday as well.

Fabinho (CM)

The Brazilian has become a regular for the Reds after a slow start to his Liverpool career. He will be tasked to keep the visitors’ flair players quiet at Anfield.

Fabinho

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

Partnering Fabinho on Wednesday will be Wijnaldum, who has been a very consistent performer for Liverpool in the 2018/19 campaign.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

Shaqiri gives a different dimension to the Reds’ attack with his pace and unpredictable movement. He will start on the right wing.

Naby Keita (CAM)

Keita has looked good of late and will look to thrive in an advanced role with Wijnaldum and Fabinho behind him.

Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane (LW)

Mane had an off day against United but will look to deliver the goods against the Hornets.

Mohamed Salah (ST)

Just like Mane, Salah endured a tough afternoon at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Egyptian will aim to get on the score-sheet on Wednesday and is expected to start in the no.9 role.
