Candice LeRae was at her best as she moved close to winning the NXT title

Candice LeRae was one of the stars from this week’s NXT as she won a huge Battle Royal. The Poison Pixie turned heel recently and has been doing her best to get a crack at the title.

She got her wish this time after a huge battle, and that was just one of the many hits from this week’s WWE NXT.

There were a few misses too but this was an otherwise excellent show.

Misses

1) Holland’s time to shine

Ridge Holland got an easy win on this week’s NXT as he crushed a jobber, and while this was great for his career as WWE seems to be pushing him, it could have been a lot more.

Holland was involved in an incredible match a few weeks back and could have been part of something similar this time around.

A squash match is great to get someone over and Holland could be the next big thing on NXT, but this was just a minor miss in an otherwise great show.

Hits

1) Poison Pixie strikes

Going back to the Battle Royal, LeRae got the better of some tougher names than her. Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzalez were busy fighting each other while Shotzi Blackheart could have also become Io Shirai’s next rival.

However, WWE chose LeRae, and it will be interesting to see how she does against Shirai. She has been excellent since turning heel, alongside her husband Johnny Gargano, and there could be some gold coming to their household.

2) Balor has a new challenger

The men also had a different Gauntlet match as WWE tried to find a rival for NXT Champion Finn Balor.

In a bit of a surprise, it was Kyle O’Reilly picking up the win. The Undisputed Era member is known for his work as a tag team star but this was something different.

O’Reilly is one of the best workers in WWE and this could be his time to shine. The other UE members came out to celebrate and congratulated him.

Balor might still be the favourite to keep the title but O’Reilly will put on a show.

3) Mixed tag team

Another genius move from William Regal and Fandango. They mixed two teams up into one and set four men off to battle.

Basically, it was Danny Burch and Roderick Strong teaming up together. They got the better of Fabian Aichner and Raul Mendoza.

There was an incentive for the newly formed teams to win as the winners would then face off with their respective tag members for the chance to meet Breezango and the titles.

It was great to see a mixed tag team match that had something at the end, and this was an excellent decision taken by all.

4) Real ninja skills

The women’s Battle Royal allowed some of the smaller stars to shine too. Kacy Catanzaro might be known for featuring in tag matches but she had a couple of shining moments.

The former American Ninja Warrior contestant used her abilities to avoid an elimination. This was reminiscent of what Kofi Kingston has done at the Royal Rumble, and even got the attention of the former WWE star.

Sure, she didn’t win the match, but she was one of the highlights from this week’s NXT.
