Here is all you need to know about why 2021 women’s US Open Champion Emma Raducanu split from her coach

Emma Raducanu produced one of the most stunning stories at the recently concluded 2021 US Open.

The 18-year old teenager from the United Kingdom, came in as a qualifier and won the US Open title without dropping a single set. No one had ever won a Grand Slam, starting off as a qualifier.

As impressive it might sound, Raducanu also became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade did it at the 1977 Wimbledon.

Raducanu’s ranking shot up from beyond 150 to world no.22.

Her performance drew comparisons to several underdog stories, notably Leicester City’s 2015-16 English Premier League triumph.

A legion of wishes followed, and she became a global superstar in a span of three weeks. She was also one of the attendees of the prestigious 2021 Met Gala.

More recently, it was revealed that Raducanu has split from her coach Andrew Richardson.

Emma Raducanu: Why did the tennis star split from her coach?

Following her US Open triumph, Raducanu recently split from her coach Andrew Richardson. Sky Sports were the first to report the same. Richardson previously coached Raducanu at the Bromley Tennis Centre.

The popular sports network claimed that Raducanu had parted ways with Richardson in a bid to seek an experienced mentor for the forthcoming tennis season and onwards.

She has been looking for an experienced mentor. Indeed, Raducanu will be looking forward to proving that she ‘is not just a one-hit-wonder.’

The Tweet from Sky Sports read:

“Emma Raducanu has split from coach Andrew Richardson following her US Open triumph and is seeking an experienced mentor to help guide her through her next steps on tour.”
