Belinda Bencic produces hilarious moment ahead of her virtual Madrid Masters Open match

With tennis across the world on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic, stars have been indulging in virtual matches.

The Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro is in full flow currently and Belinda Bencic, who had a match scheduled on Monday, posted a hilarious video on her Twitter account prior to her game against Carla Suarez.

In the video, Bencic can be seen kitted out in her Tennis attire, walking up the stairs into her living room. On the way, she appeared to be waving at her “fans”, before setting down her kit bag and pulling out her joystick, instead of a racket.

Bencic wins the match

Following up on her brilliant entrance, Bencic put up a fine display in the match, proving that her powers were not just limited to a real tennis court. The 23-year-old Swiss star beat Suarez 3-1, advancing to the next phase of the Virtual Pro tournament.

Bencic, ranked No.8 in the world currently, had a memorable 2019. She reached the US Open semi-final and won the Dubai Tennis Championships as well as the Kremlin Cup. She could not make it past the third round in the 2020 Australian Open.

In other notable results of Madrid Open Virtual tournament of the day, Rafael Nadal defeated Denis Shapovalov narrowly.

The virtual tournament features several top stars, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
