Iga Swiatek has been having a dream of a season. She has reached the pinnacle in the WTA rankings and consolidated her position with some fabulous results.

Iga Swiatek began the year with a run to the semi-finals in Adelaide. However, that was just the beginning of something grand. She won the Qatar Open in February and went on to win the next five tournaments she participated in – Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open, the Italian Open, and the French Open.

Swiatek bagged the third Grand Slam title of her career, and second this season when she came up trumps in Flushing Meadows. Recently at the San Diego Open, Swiatek won her 8th title of the season with a win against Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic in the final.

The win against Vekic was her 24th on US soil this year while she has just lost one match. That came against Madison Keys in the round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters. The win also marked the 64th tour-level triumph for Swiatek this season. She has only faced defeat on 8 occasions so far. According to WTA, the 21-year-old has the most wins in a single season (including WTA Tour events and Billie Jean King Cup play) since the legendary Serena Williams’ 78 in 2013.

Another incredible stat is that Swiatek has just lost 2 sets out of 28 against top players like Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, and Aryna Sabalenka in 2022 so far.
