The 23-year-old Emil Ruusuvuori started the match on a positive note and bagged the first set. The 3-time Grand Slam champion fought back to win the second set. The match went into the decisive third set which the youngster won with relative ease to come out victorious 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

During the match, Stan Wawrinka had something attached to his elbow and it seemed like a glucose monitor. One of the fans asked on Twitter if Wawrinka was diabetic. However, experienced journalist Ben Rothenberg replied saying that he wasn’t sure as non-diabetic athletes have also started wearing similar equipment to track their glucose levels and more.

Who will Emil Ruusuvuori meet in the Round of 32 of the Canadian Open?

After an impressive performance against Stan Wawrinka, Emil Ruusuvuori will take on Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 32.

Hurkacz won the Halle Open which preceded Wimbledon. However, the Polish star could not replicate the performance at the grass-court major. At the Citi Open, Hurkacz once again failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. Ruusuvuori has won 24 out of his 44 matches this season while Hurkacz has won 28 out of 41.

The two players have faced each other on one previous occasion. Interestingly, that match came only a week back at the Citi Open. Ruusuvuori got the win in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Their upcoming clash could be a closer contest as the 8th seeded Hurkacz will look to avenge the previous loss.
