The gold post box in Dunblane commemorates Andy Murray’s Olympic win in 2012

Andy Murray’s gold Post Box in Dunblane, Scotland seems to be worn out with no one taking much care of it. The post box was installed to celebrate Murray’s Olympic Gold medal win in men’s singles in 2012. Murray had defeated Roger Federer in the men’s singles final of the 2012 London Olympics to clinch the prestigious gold medal on home soil.

The Post Box has suffered damages in the past and currently, it seems to be in a really bad state with not much maintenance work being carried out. In 2019, it was uprooted from the spot after a silver Mercedes crashed into it with full force, causing significant damage. It was reinstated soon enough and is operational to date.

Murray’s epic win Gold medal win in the London Olympics was celebrated throughout Great Britain. He had defeated Roger Federer 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 in a thrilling final. The Scottish Government had decided to construct the Post Box in Murray’s hometown to commemorate this incredible win.

Andy Murray will be in action at the Qatar Open this week

Andy Murray is scheduled to take on Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the Qatar Open later today. He is coming into this tournament after a commendable showing at the Australian Open, where he suffered a third-round exit but not before registering two impressive victories. Murray is in the twilight of his career but he will be high on confidence and self-belief after those incredible wins against Matteo Berrettini and Thanasi Kokkinakis in two marathon matches in Melbourne last month. However, it remains to be seen how far Murray can progress in Qatar.
