Novak Djokovic’s preparations are in full swing ahead of the Australian Open – he’s brought in physio Claudio Zimaglia.

Novak Djokovic has brought in a new physiotherapist, Claudio Zimaglia to replace Uli Badio ahead of the 2023 season. Badio had been Djokovic’s personal physio since 2017 but the Serbian star has brought in Zimaglia, who has previously worked with Brandon Nakashima, Milos Raonic and Jannik Sinner. Djokovic is scheduled to kick off his 2023 season at the Adelaide International in January before heading to Melbourne for the Australian Open.

Zimaglia is a pretty well-known name in the Tennis circuit. He is currently a teacher at the osteopathy academy in the Italian city of Torino. Besides working with top professional tennis stars, Zimaglia has vast experience in elite tennis and has also with academies like the Piatti Tennis Center. He has also authored the book “Sports Massage: And Complementary Techniques”.

He will finally be back in Australia and kickstart his 2023 season with Adelaide International in January. The Adelaide International is an ATP 250 event and it is scheduled to begin on January 1. The Serbian star is set to be in action downunder after a gap of more than one year. Last year, he was barred from participating at the Australian Open due to his COVID-19 vaccination status. While he initially received an exemption from Australia’s strict vaccination requirement to enter the country, after a lot of back and forth between Djokovic and the Australian legal system, he was eventually deported from Australia. Djokovic’s unceremonious departure had given rise to a huge controversy which didn’t seem to end but all of that should be put to an end now that Djokovic is preparing to win another title in Australia.
