Daniil Medvedev is set to take on Herbert Hurkacz while Alexander Zverev will face Casper Ruud for semi-final berths at Miami Open 2022

Daniil Medvedev entered the tournament as the top seed and has lived up to expectations so far. World No. 2 is yet to drop a single set at Miami Open 2022. Medvedev got a ‘Bye’ in the first round due to his superior seeding and then went on to register a thumping 6-4, 6-2 victory against Andy Murray in the next round. Medvedev followed it up with straight-sets victories against Pedro Martinez and Jenson Brooksby in the next two rounds.

Herbert Hurkacz meanwhile, has been equally impressive. The Polish star is seeded eighth in the tournament and will be looking to cause a major upset. Hurkacz defeated Arthur Rinderknech in the first round 7-6, 6-2 and followed it up with a hard-fought win in three sets against 29th seed Aslan Karatsev. Hurkacz beat Lloyd Harris in the next round to set up a clash against Medvedev.

Medvedev and Hurkacz have faced each other thrice before in the ATP circuit with the Russian leading 2:1 on head to head. We expect Medvedev to be at his best in this match, which could be too good for the Polish ace. A straight-sets victory for Medvedev could very well be on the cards.

Alexander Zverev will face a tough challenge against emerging star Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud has been thoroughly impressive at the Miami Open. The Norwegian is yet to drop a set in this event and has already beaten two seeded players in his journey so far. Ruud defeated 10th seeded Cameron Norrie convincingly in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to set up a clash against Zverev.

Alexander Zverev started his campaign with a hard-fought three-set win against Borna Coric. The German however comfortably brushed aside Mackenzie McDonald and Thanasi Kokkinakis in the next two rounds respectively.

Zverev and Ruud have faced each on the ATP tour three times in the past. Zverev has won on all three occasions including a Walkover that he received at the 2021 Acapulco Open. Despite the one-sided head to head record between the two players, we predict this match to be a hard-fought three-setter with Ruud eventually sealing his first victory against Zverev.
