As we enter the fifth day of the Miami Open, things are heating up with exciting matches scheduled to be played out in the days ahead

Miami Open is an ATP 1000 event with most of the top seeds across the world participating in the tournament. As the tournament progresses, fans can expect a lot of thrilling and mouth-watering encounters. There are a lot of exciting matches lined up later in the day.

Fourth seed Matteo Berrettini will be in action today against Argentina’s Juan Manuel. Second seed Alexander Zverev, ninth seed Jannik Sinner and tenth seed Cameron Norrie will be playing their Round of 64 matches today. In the men’s singles draw, 17th seed Pablo Busta against Belgian veteran David Goffin definitely promises to be an exciting clash. Fans should also watch out for the encounter between 13th seed Daniel Schwartzman and Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The Women’s singles draw has been affected by withdrawals with multiple matches for the day being cancelled. 10th seed Jelena Ostapenko taking on America’s Shelby Rogers certainly promises to be the stand out match. The duo share a very close head to head record and the unseeded Rogers won the last encounter between the two. 16th seed Jessica Pegula taking on the 2018 Champion, Sloane Stephens is a very exciting prospect and a match fans will have their eyes on. Top seeds like Maria Sakkari (4), Coco Gauff (14) and Elena Rybakina will also be in action in their respective Round of 64 matches today.

Stars continue to fall out of Miami Open 2022

An incredible day at the Miami Open has left the women’s singles draw in chaos. Multiple unexpected results and injuries has seen top WTA stars fall out of the tournament. To start with, no.1 seed Aryna Sabalenka lost in straight sets against unseeded Irina Begu 4-6, 4-6. Ann Li then followed it up by causing a major upset in an three-setter against the third seed, Anett Kontaviet. Sixth seed Karolina Pliskova lost in straight sets to Anna Kalinskaya. Emma Raducanu (11) and Elina Svitolina (15) bowed out of the tournament losing in three-sets against Katerina Siniakova and Heather Watson respectively.

Earlier in the day, Romanian tennis star Simona Halep withdrew from the tournament with an injury. Halep was scheduled to play Daria Saville in the second round of the Miami Open but took to social media to announce that she will be out for three weeks. Simona Halep suffered a thigh injury during her Indian Wells semi-final loss against Iga Swiatek last week and it caused her discomfort once again while training on Wednesday.
