Teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on World No.3 Alexander Zverev in the final of Madrid Open 2022

Carlos Alcaraz has been in sublime touch in Madrid. The 7th seed began his campaign with a convincing straight sets victory against Nikoloz Basilashvili and followed it up with a thrilling three-set win against 9th seed Cameron Norrie. The Spaniard then went on to etch his name on the history books. First, he defeated the king of clay, Rafael Nadal 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 after which he sealed a sensational victory against Novak Djokovic. In the process, Alcaraz became the first player ever to beat both Nadal and Djokovic in consecutive matches on clay.

Zverev then pulled off a convincing straight sets victory against 8th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and went on to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in the semi-final to set up a summit clash against Alcaraz.

Head to head and Predictions

Zverev and Alcaraz have met each other twice before on the ATP tour. On both occasions, Zverev won convincingly straight sets and leads 2-0 on Head to head. Their last meeting came at the 2021 Austrian Open, which the German won 6-3, 6-3.

On paper, Zverev is the favourite both in terms of rankings and head to head records but given the form Alcaraz is in, no one can dare to rule him out. We are predicting an intense thriller with Carlos Alcaraz eventually winning in three sets.
