After becoming the third youngest champion in the Open Era to win the BMW Open, Rune stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas to bag the Stockholm Open title. However, his biggest win came at the Paris Masters when he bagged his first Masters 1000 title by defeating the defending champion Novak Djokovic in a riveting final.

He became the youngest champion in Bercy after Boris Becker won the title in 1986. With the win, Rune also made his debut in the top 10 rankings on 7 November 2022. Rune withdrew from the Next Gen ATP Finals but he is the first alternate for the 2022 ATP Finals.

During a presser, the 19-year-old corrected an interviewer who began: “You are the first Danish player in the top 10…”

Rune mentioned Caroline Wozniacki in his answer as the former tennis ace was the first Danish player to make her way into the top 10. Wozniacki had an inspirational career, and it’s good to see that Rune acknowledged her contribution to the sport.
