“I am grateful for what Djokovic did.” Facundo Bagnis is all praise for Novak Djokovic for always standing by lower-ranked players

The legendary Novak Djokovic is one of the best tennis players the world has ever seen. He receives a lot of adulation for his performances on the court, but he is also one of the nicest human beings on the tour.

The Argentine veteran, Facundo Bagnis heaped praise on the 21-time Grand Slam champion – Novak Djokovic for being supportive of the lower-ranked players and creating the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA).

The 32-year-old recently won a Challenger event in Ambato. He alleged how the ATP Chairman, Andrea Gaudenzi, has no relationship with players outside the top 20. As per La Nacion:

“In 2020 I lived when Djokovic created the PTPA, and the ATP was terribly aggressive with us not to join. The ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi has no relationship with the players, at least with those who are not in the top 20. He doesn’t even say hi to me.”

Facundo Bagnis doffed his hat to the former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and shared some interesting moments where he saw first-hand how the Serbian supported the ones in need.

Bagnis revealed how Djokovic attended a meeting for two and a half hours which was not mandatory, with a match to play on the following day, during a tournament in Rome. He also stated how Djokovic stood up for the people in Australia following the fires. Bagnis added that the Serbian superstar was the one who proposed that it should help players outside the top 100 during the pandemic.

“I am grateful for what Djokovic did. I saw him super involved in the tournament in Rome, he attended a meeting for two and a half hours, which was not mandatory, and he was playing the next day. People don’t have the chance to see that, but I do, and I take my hat off to him.

“He was the one who helped during the fires in Australia. He was the one who helped during the fires in Australia. He was the one who proposed that players outside the Top 100 be helped during the pandemic. He may not be the fans’ favorite, he may make mistakes sometimes, but for help lower ranked players, he is always in the front row.”
