King Richard is a biographical sports drama film that follows the life of Richard Williams, the father and coach of Venus and Serena Williams. The tennis stars are executive producers of the film. It follows the life and journey of Venus and Serena Williams right from their childhood and how their father, Richard played a humongous role in them becoming the undisputed superstars of tennis.

Serena Williams is a 23-time Grand Slam champion in women’s singles and is regarded as one of the greatest ever tennis players. She emerged into the professional circuit in 1995, at the tender age of 15 years. Serena has won 73 WTA titles in her career with an overall win percentage of 84.9 %. She is a multiple-time Olympic gold medalist for the United States of America.

Venus Williams, Serena’s elder sister is a legend in her own rights. She is a former World No. 1 just like her sister and has seven women’s singles Grand Slam titles to her name to go with a haul of 49 WTA career titles. Venus is ranked 2nd in the all-time list of prize money won by women’s tennis players just behind her sister Serena, who tops the list.

The numbers and the records created by the two sisters speak for themselves. There is no debate over the fact that the Williams’ sisters have re-defined women’s tennis and taken it to a different level altogether. The biographical film on them covers this incredible journey and is certainly an audience-favourite!
