Matt Sydal made a few appearances for AEW but is now a full-time member of the roster

Matt Sydal is the latest star to join AEW as a full-time member of the roster. The 37-year-old is a veteran in the wrestling business and has had stints on Impact, where he is a former Grand Champion, and also with WWE.

Sydal, who was also known as Evan Bourne, during his WWE days, won the WWE Tag titles with Kofi Kingston during his time with the promotion.

The 37-year-old is known for his high flying moves and has taken his craft all around the world. Sydal has also wrestled in Japan and has been part of the indie circuit too.

He made a surprise appearance at All Out 2020 during the Casino Battle Royal. Sydal was the Joker in this match but couldn’t win the clash.

However, he still made a big impact and was the talking point too. Sydal shared the photo from All Elite confirming his signing and also was a little emotional after seeing the picture:

“I teared up when I saw the logo with my pic and #allelite #MattSydal”

Thanking his supporters

Sydal, like a lot of the wrestlers, has travelled a lot to be where he is. He has also worked extremely hard and it is great seeing him on television weekly.

While he is yet to win a title since joining AEW, he could have a great run on the show. There aren’t many like him in the business and he took time to thank all his supporters over the years:

“My hard work only worked because of the support I get from my family, friends and fans! 20 years of people helping, teaching and believing in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. Thank you all. Onegaishimasu!¡Hagamoslo para el bien de todos!”

It will be interesting to see what storyline Sydal gets involved in. AEW does have a sizeable roster of former WWE stars, and Sydal joins that list.

However, he is one of the most talented on the roster too and will set AEW alight with some of his moves.
