With the last main series game being released in 2016, fans were waiting for a new Tales game. Bandai Namco has finally answered their prayers and is releasing Tales of Arise. It is the classic Tales game with some new features.

The game will be a traditional action RPG and will follow the two main characters from the opposing world of Dahna and Rena. The developers took their time and have revitalized the Tales series. 

Tales of Arise Release Date

The game was originally planned to be released in 2020. But the development of the game was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The release date for Tales of Arise was announced recently. The game will be released on September 10. The Japanese players will get to play the game one day early.

Tales of Arise Platforms

Arise will be released on consoles and PC. The game will be released worldwide for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. This will be the first Tales game to be released on the next-gen consoles. The developers have been silent about news relating to the release of the game on Nintendo Switch.

Tales of Arise Storyline

The game’s story is not connected to any of the past games. New players can start playing the game without any hitch and enjoy the franchise. Alphen and Shionne are the two main characters from the world of Dahna and Rena.

These two worlds have been fighting for the past 300 years. Out two main characters form an unlikely alliance to free the enslaved people of Dahna. Rena is a technologically advanced world with astral artes and magical abilities.

The new trailers have also revealed few new characters as well. Our heroes will be joined by Rinwell, a girl with a cute pet owl called Hootle. A martial artist who is a member of the Renan police force will also join the party.

The police officer is aptly named Law. Dohalim il Qaras is a Renan noble who doesn’t share his peoples’ attitudes towards the Dahnans. He fights with a Bo Staff and astral artes. He is accompanied by Kisara, a Dahnan soldier who is armed with a hammer and shield.

Tales of Arise Gameplay

Tales is a traditional action RPG with real-time attack and movement. The characters can perform special moves called ‘Arte’ which will have different elements. Arise will have a faster combat mechanic as compared to the previous games.

The fast-paced dodging and attack movements definitely stood out. Each party member will have a powerful finishing move called Mystic Arte. The art style of the game will have an anime base with the cutscenes being produced by the same studio that brought us the Demon Slayer anime. Arise will not be an open-world game. Alphen’s sprinting, jumping and swimming abilities showcase the freedom in movement introduced in the game.

Arise will release on consoles and PC on September 10. You can pre-order Tales of Arise on Steam.
