Rangers vs Celtic FC predictions: Rangers Line-up

Steven Gerrard takes Rangers to Celtic Park, hoping for a win that would keep the Gers’ hopes of a title challenge intact.

Defeat against Celtic on Sunday will effectively end Gerrard’s chances of winning silverware this season. Therefore, it’s a bigger game for Rangers than for Neil Lennon’s Celtic.

The Hoops, meanwhile, are ten points clear at the top of the table and will look to virtually wrap up the title with a victory over bitter rivals, Rangers.

Team News

Borna Barisic will miss Sunday’s game after picking up an injury with Croatia. Scott Arfield could also be unavailable after suffering a calf injury before the international break.

Probable Rangers XI

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Formation: 4-3-3

Allan McGregor (GK)

McGregor has been outstanding between the sticks for Rangers all season and his presence in goal is needed on Sunday.

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier has improved a lot under Gerrard, adding a lot of discipline to his defensive side of the game. He will be expected to put in a skipper’s performance at Celtic.

James Tavernier

Connor Goldson (CB)

He has been one of the consistent players at the back for Gerrard’s men. The Englishman is line to start against Celtic.

Nikola Katic (CB)

After a bright start to his career at Ibrox, Katic has lost his way. However, he will be given a chance to prove himself against Lennon’s Celtic.

Andy Halliday (LB)

With Barisic injured, Halliday is Gerrard’s go-to-man at left-back. Halliday has shown a lot of composure at left-back and will be tasked to keep the nippy Forrest at bay.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

Jack makes Rangers tick all over with his energy and ability to cover a lot of ground. He is expected to start at the base of the midfield trio.

Ryan Jack

Glen Kamara (RCM)

The January recruit has done very well for the Gers, adding more bite and energy to the engine room.

Steven Davis (LCM)

With Arfield likely to miss the game, Davis will be given a nod for such a big game. His experience and leadership qualities could come handy as Rangers look to beat Celtic at the weekend.

Ryan Kent (LW)

Kent can be a real thorn for the Celtic defence as he is quick and an expert dribbler. He will look to make smart runs in behind the defenders to help the Gers get a positive result at Parkhead.

Daniel Candeias (RW)

Candeias has blown hot and cold this campaign. It’s high time the Portuguese steps up and delivers a top performance.

Alfredo Morelos (ST)

Rangers’ chief source of goals, Morelos will look to make himself an absolute pest for the hosts’ defenders and help Rangers win all three points on Sunday.
