Rangers FC vs Hearts predictions: Rangers FC Line-up

After a demoralizing defeat in the Old Firm derby, Rangers will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways when they host Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.

The defeat against Celtic at the weekend has seen the Gers fall 13 points adrift of the league leaders, virtually ending Steven Gerrard’s hopes of the title. Now Gerrard will hope for a better display and a positive result at Ibrox in midweek.

Hearts, meanwhile are fifth in the table and come into this game off the back of a 2-1 success at home over Aberdeen.

Team News

Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday are suspended after getting sent off in the 2-1 defeat at Celtic. Borna Barisic missed the Old Firm derby and is set to be sidelined for Wednesday’s game as well.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

McGregor is Rangers’ undisputed first-choice keeper and should be in goal on Wednesday.

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier was poor at Celtic, culpable of the hosts’ winning goal. He will look to lead Rangers from the front against Hearts.

Connor Goldson

Connor Goldson (CB)

Goldson has been the team’s best defender this season and he should keep his place in the team on Wednesday.

Joe Worrall (CB)

Worrall struggled playing at left-back against Celtic but he’ll be back to his original position in the midweek fixture.

Jon Flanagan (LB)

With Barisic injured and Halliday suspended, Flanagan could get a rare start at left-back.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

Jack will look to dictate the game from the first blow of the whistle. He will have to be at the top of his game if the Gers are to win.

Scott Arfield

Scott Arfield (RCM)

Arfield will need to find those pockets of spaces between the opposition players to create chances for his teammates.

Glen Kamara (LCM)

Kamara brings bite and energy to the Rangers’ engine room. After coming in as a substitute against Celtic, he’ll be handed a start on Wednesday.

Daniel Candeias (RW)

Candeias has to step up and put in an imperious display on the right to help the Teddy Bears get three points.

Ryan Kent 1

Ryan Kent (LW)

Kent was the only bright spark for Rangers in the Old Firm derby defeat. The 22-year-old remains a key player under Gerrard and should start against Hearts.
