Roman Reigns opened the show and finished it off in perfect heel fashion

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was the talking point on this week’s SmackDown as he continued his heel ways.

Reigns defends his Universal title against cousin Jey Uso. However, he was at his heel best and made an emphatic point right at the end of the show.

This was certainly one of the hits from this week’s SmackDown but a few segments didn’t click too.

Misses

1) Wasted Otis

Otis was the hottest thing in WWE before he went on to win the Money in the Bank match. However, since that win, he has been reduced to a sideshow.

There is no talk of him cashing the briefcase ever in and now he is involved in this crazy story where the Miz and Morrison try to steal the contract.

WWE have done it again by wasting a hot star and no one knows how they will redeem Otis now, given that Reigns is back.

2) Not the character expected

Everyone expected Sister Abigail/Alexa Bliss to make her appearance on the Firefly Fun House on this week’s segment.

Instead, we got Wobbly Walrus, who is a play on the Paul Heyman character. While this is fun, it could have been better to push Bliss into the arms of The Fiend, especially given what happened in a match later on.

Hits

1) Reigns stars and ends

Reigns was perfect in the entire show. Learning that he pushed Jey Uso as a replacement for the injured Big E was a revelation in itself.

He then didn’t help his cousin as Jey was beat up in a tag match. However, being the perfect heel, Reigns rushed in and got the win just when it looked like Jey was going to get the job done.

The pair might have raised their hands at the end of the show, but there is a lot of friction between the family members.

2) She’s here

Speaking of The Fiend, there still seems to be something wrong with Bliss and she was in action in a Fatal 4-way match to determine Bayley’s next challenger.

Bliss hasn’t looked the same since her run-ins with the Fiend and this time, she used a Sister Abigail on her best friend, Nikki Cross.

The Goddess then walked out of the match and she didn’t care about the result. Bliss seems to be moving closer to the dark side, but when does she make the final jump?

3) Bayley tells all

Bayley opened up on why she was the one who attacked Sasha Banks last week. Banks was sent to the hospital after a brutal attack, and the Role Model explained she was using Banks and her best friend would have done the same to her later on.

This was the perfect explanation as Bayley has turned completely heel. She even attacked Cross with a steel chair before the Fatal 4-way and it will be interesting to see what is next for the champion.
