The Argentine duo of Andres Molteni & Maximo Gonzalez faces the 2nd-seeded team of Marcelo Melo & Juan Sebastian Cabal in the men’s doubles final of the Rio Open on Saturday.

The Argentine duo began with a hard-fought win against the Brazilian duo of Joao Fonseca and Mateus Alves. The match ended 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in favor of Molteni and Gonzalez. In the quarterfinals, they came back from a set down to defeat Andrea Pellegrino and Nikola Cacic 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 10-3.

Molteni and Gonzalez produced a dominating display to beat the 4th-seeded team of Francisco Cabral and Horacio Zeballos in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The winning team had a win percentage of 86 on the first serve and also smashed 6 aces.

The Brazilian-Colombian duo began its campaign in the Rio Open with an intriguing match against Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler that ended 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Melo and Sebastian Cabal advanced to the quarterfinals where they played a near-perfect match to defeat the Argentine duo of Diego Schwartzman and Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

The 2nd-seeded team followed it up with another solid performance to defeat the French duo of Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals. Melo and Cabal had a win percentage of 78 on the first serve.

The two teams that reached the finals played some exhilarating tennis to enthrall the fans. They have deservingly reached the finals and expect them to give it their best shot.
