Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is arguably the biggest Indian badminton star of this generation. She is the first Indian woman to win a silver medal at the Olympics and gold at the BWF World Championships. She is ranked No. 7 in the World and is India’s biggest hope of a Gold at Tokyo 2020.

After partnering with Pullela Gopichand, her game went to another level securing a Top 3 finish at the World Championships. Her dream finally came true in 2019, when Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 to win her first ever BWF Championships.

Her biggest achievement came at the 2016 Rio Olympic games, as she managed to bag a silver medal after reaching the finals of the tournament. This time around, it could be her best chance at gold as she is 3 wins away from securing her first ever Olympic Gold.

PV Sindhu Family, Personal Life and Endorsements

PV Sindhu was raised in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh to parents who played volleyball at the national level, with her father PV Ramana winning the bronze medal at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games. She also has an elder sister P.V. Divya.

Sindhu began training at 8 at the Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secundarabad. After the passing of her first coach, she joined forces with P. Gopichand who elevated her career remarkably.

Pusarla works for Bharat Petroleum since July 2013, as an assistant sports manager in Hyderabad. In 2016, she was appointed as deputy sports manager. Sindhu is appointed as the Deputy Collector (Group-I) by the Andhra Pradesh government in July 2017.
