Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leicester City XI to face Watford in the Premier League

Leicester City progressed to the last eight of the Carabao Cup with a 6-5 win over Southampton in the round of 16 encounter on Tuesday night.

The Foxes weren’t at the top of their game away from home against Brighton and Hove Albion in their previous Premier League outing but still managed to pinch a point with a 1-1 draw.

Claude Puel’s men are currently placed 10th in the Premier League standings and they will face a tough test against Watford at home on Saturday.

Watford lost 3-0 against Liverpool in their last game and the Hornets will be looking to get back to winning ways to stay up in the top ten.

Team News

Harry Maguire is yet to regain full fitness from his knee injury and his selection on Saturday will be subject to a late fitness test while Rachid Ghezzal is also doubtful to feature at the weekend.

James Maddison is set to return after serving a one-game suspension for having picked up five yellow cards while Daniel Amartey continues to be on the sidelines to nurse a foot injury. Vicente Iborra is also struggling with a foot injury and is doubtful to feature on Saturday.

Claude Puel is expected to make quite a few changes to the team that played Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Claude Puel

Predicted XI

1. Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Danish international has always been a reliable presence between the sticks and should return to the team to replace Danny Ward.

2. Danny Simpson (RB)

He played in the Carabao Cup and is likely to continue in the first-team given that Ricardo Pereira might get a start on the right-wing.

3. Jonny Evans (CB)

The former Manchester United man has been in decent form this season and Puel should continue to rely on him.

4. Wes Morgan (CB)

The veteran has been a bit rash and reckless at times but has done a good job in the heart of the defence.

5. Ben Chilwell (LB)

Christian Fuchs had a decent outing in the Carabao Cup but the English youngster has been one of the first names on Puel’s teamsheet for the Premier League games this season.

6. Wilfried Ndidi (CDM)

The Nigerian did not play in the Carabao Cup but Leicester will need his strength and tenacity in midfield to counter the threat of Abdoulaye Doucoure.

7. Nampalys Mendy (CDM)

The Frenchman has been a bit inconsistent this season and will be expected to rise to the occasion on Saturday.

8. Ricardo Pereira (RW)

The injury to Rachid Ghezzal might prompt Puel to field the Portuguese international on the right wing given that he has shown plenty of promise in terms of attack.

9. Demarai Gray (LW)

The youngster has always been a lively figure down the left and Leicester will need him to be at the top of his game to beat an in-form Watford.

10. James Maddison (CAM)

He should be back in the No.10 spot after serving his suspension and Leicester will need him to spark that creativity in the final third.

11. Jamie Vardy (ST)

He found the net from the spot against Brighton last week and he will once again be Leicester’s best bet to propel them to a victory.
