Predicted Manchester United XI to face Southampton in the Premier League

Manchester United are set to face Southampton in a Premier League encounter on Monday night at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been in terrific form of late and will be heading into this game on the back of a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa. Noting but a win on Tuesday would be helpful in their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Saints, on the other hand, have also managed to put in a series of fine results and will be hoping to take maximum points from the game.

The manager would be happy to see all of his main players fit for the game with the games coming thick and fast. However, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones are unavailable for selection as they are recovering from their injuries.

Probable Man United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David De Gea (GK)

The Spaniard is United’s first-choice shot-stopper and will remain in goal for the Red Devils. He would be hoping to extend his clean sheet record.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

One of the hottest prospects, Wan-Bissaka has consistently delivered when it matters the most for United. He will be an undoubted starter and will be expected to be on top of his game against the Saints forwards.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Despite maintaining a good record at the back, Maguire was shaky in the last few games. He is one of the few players to feature in all the league games so far. He will be leading the team from the back.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

Lindelof has established himself at the back for United and is one of their best defenders. He should partner Maguire in the heart of the defence.

Luke Shaw (LB)

The English international has continued to improve in recent months. He was brilliant in going forward in the last outing but needs to be consistent. He is likely to get the nod ahead of Brandon Williams.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

The Serbian has been a vital cog in United’s midfield since the restart. His presence has been a huge boost for Pogba and Fernandes to move forward without any fear. He will start for sure and will be expected to continue with the good form.

Paul Pogba (CM)

The World Cup winner finally brought an end to his goalscoring drought and has been one of the best players since returning from injury.

Mason Greenwood (RW)

The teenager is enjoying a tremendous campaign so far, having already netted 15 goals this season across all competitions. He has claimed the spot for himself and will no doubt be one of the first names on the team sheet on Monday.

Bruno Fernandes (AM)

Fernandes’ quality has been immense to the Red Devils so far. His impressive performances have won him the PL Player of the Month for June and seems to be growing stronger with each game. He will be relied upon once again to break open Southampton’s defence.

Marcus Rashford (LW)

The 22-year-old has not been at his goalscoring best since the restart but he is an inevitable presence in United’s attack. He needs to get back to his goalscoring form, which could be helpful for the team.
