Predicted Manchester United XI to face Everton in the EFL Cup

Manchester United and Everton turn their attention to the EFL Cup as they square off for a place in the semi-finals. The Red Devils have never been in better form and their display during the weekend against Leeds was nothing less than spectacular. So far, they have defeated the likes Luton Town and Brighton to reach this stage.

Everton too have been gathering some momentum. They have managed to topple teams like Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal. In the previous rounds, they won against Salford, Fleetwood Town and West Ham. Expect a cracking game from both sides.

There will be some fresh faces on the injury list after the last game. Scott McTominay is pretty much out of this one with a groin injury and his return date is unknown. Luke Shaw could also miss the game with fatigue.

The duo of Jones and Rojo are also out. A lot of fringe players could come into the XI for this one as a heavily rotated side could be thrown out.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Dean Henderson (GK)

Henderson is likely to come back despite not having the best of times against Sheffield United.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

Has looked much better in recent games with his attacking runs. He is solid as always at the back.

Eric Bailly (CB)

This could well be the game where we could see Bailly again after another long injury layoff.

Harry Maguire (CB)

The captain should continue to lead his team. Much improved showing in the last game.

Alex Telles (LB)

Shaw is very likely to be given some rest with a good run of games coming. Telles comes in to deputise.

Paul Pogba (DM)

Rather surprising to not see him in the last game but Pogba is in good form and should be raring to have a crack at Everton.

Nemanja Matic (DM)

Likely to come back for this one and partner Pogba in midfield.

Bruno Fernandes (AM)

While it would have been a good game to rest him, Everton are no pushovers and we all know what happens when he doesn’t play.

Juan Mata
Juan Mata will provide a lot of creativity to United’s attack

Juan Mata (RW)

The diminutive Spaniard should start this one. Comes in as a part of rotation.

Donny Van de Beek (LW)

The new man hasn’t had much to do in recent games but could be starting this one.

Edinson Cavani (ST)

A lot will ride on Cavani as he will be one of the few senior players in the XI for the game.
