The 26-year-old progressed to the semifinals of the Palermo Ladies Open and the Poland Open, where she lost to Lucia Bronzetti and Caroline Garcia respectively. Entering the Slovenia Open as the defending champion, Paolini made it to the quarter-finals, where she lost to eventual champion Katerina Siniakova.

Prior to the Parma Ladies Open, the Italian tennis pro took part in the WTA 125 event in Budapest. She had a rather forgettable outing as she crashed out in the first round following a loss against Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova.

Jule Niemeier

The world No. 72 failed to win a match in the main draw in the first 8 tournaments she played this season. Niemeier found success in April as she won an ITF event in Croatia without dropping a set. She followed it up with a run to the semi-finals in another ITF event in Germany. She won the WTA 125 title in Makarska in June.

The 23-year-old produced a memorable performance at Wimbledon and made it to the quarter-finals, where she was ousted by veteran German star – Tatjana Maria. Niemeier used the momentum and confidence gained at the All England Club and made it to the quarter-finals in the Ladies Open Lausanne. She has made it to the round of 16 in the previous two tournaments she played – the US Open and the WTA 125 event in Budapest. Niemeier has won her two qualifying matches against Francesca Pace and Oksana Selekhmeteva with considerable ease.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head scoreline stands at 0-0 as the two players have never faced each other before.

Prediction: Jule Niemeier to win in three sets.
