The world No. 11 Hubert Hurkacz takes on the experienced Adrian Mannarino in the round of 64 of the Paris Masters.
The 25-year-old has had a decent season so far. He made it to the semifinals in the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Miami Open. He also reached the finals in Montreal but lost to Pablo Carreno Busta. Hurkacz bagged his only title this season after defeating Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the Halle Open. The Polish star also made it to the semis in Metz.
He is coming into the tournament on the back of an exit in the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open. He was ousted by Borna Coric in a three-set thriller. Last year, Hurkacz had an impressive campaign in the Paris Masters and lost to the legendary Novak Djokovic in the semis.
The French veteran was ousted in the quarterfinals of the Open Sud de France, the Dallas Open, the Delray Beach Open, the Atlanta Open, and the Astana Open this season. His best performance came in the Winston-Salem Open, where he defeated Laslo Djere in the final to win the second ATP title of his career.
The 34-year-old is coming into the tournament on the back of a first-round exit at the Basel Open. He lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in three sets. Last year at the Paris Masters, Mannarino won his first match against Nikoloz Basilashvili before going down to Gael Monfils in the following round.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-1. Mannarino comprehensively defeated Hurkacz in straight sets in the second round of this year’s Australian Open.
Prediction: Hubert Hurkacz to win in three sets.
