Manchester United Opinion: 2 wingers who must become summer targets 

Manchester United have always been considered one of the biggest and most-followed football clubs in the world and a team like that is expected to win most of the matches that they play.

While the good old days certainly haven’t ended, they did come to an abrupt halt for a few years – an event that United fans are still recovering from today.

While the departure of Jose Mourinho did calm the air within the training ground and dressing room, this was still a wounded side which seemed to have absolutely no idea how to go about a game of football. Enter Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – the former Manchester United star was brought in from Molde on a temporary basis to replace Jose.

Soon after this, United fans began to chant Ole’s on the wheel and this was owing to what was quite possibly the best start to any Manchester United manager’s career. Despite going a flurry of games without losing, their downfall was quite sudden. It was as if the whole squad forgot how to play football.

The personnel that Manchester United boasts are quite average and the fact that players like Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba have underperformed is cause for concern. Striker Marcus Rashford has struggled for service this term while Romelu Lukaku’s touch is still as bad as any.

Another player constantly giving United fans headaches is Chilean skipper Alexis Sanchez, who is earning one of the highest Premier League salaries ever despite barely being used. As suggested in a recent report by the Evening Standard, here are the two United winger targets for the summer:

Daniel James – Swansea City

The youngster has had a breakthrough season in the Championship which has certainly piqued the interest of some of the league’s biggest clubs.

United have been suggested to be front-runners for the winger’s signature as they look to strengthen in that department, owing to the stuttering form being displayed by Sanchez.

The Welshman is at his best when utilised down the left flank but can operate anywhere across the front-line. He also takes the liberty of moving across the attack in order to open up better positions for his teams mates and his 4 goals and 9 assists in the Championship have certainly been enough to convince United to pursue his signature. 

Jadon Sancho – Borussia Dortmund

This former Manchester City star could be another player making his move to Old Trafford in the summer. The youngster has really come into the fore at Dortmund this season and his performances have warranted a place in English National side as well.
