Novak Djokovic v Kei Nishikori is a quarter-final at the Olympics 2020 tennis matches and here are the live stream details, preview, prediction and more

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic beat training partner Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain 6-3, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Djokovic, who is gunning for his first ever Gold was in sublime form throughout the contest. The Spanish was no match for the Serb, who is now unbeaten in 21 matches.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion is now three wins away from creating history, after winning 3 Grand Slams earlier this year. With the US Open next month, Djokovic will hope to continue his form going into the final leg of the season.

The Serb, a singles bronze medallist in 2008 had to change tracks as he was going to team up with Nina Stojanovic in the mixed doubles tournament.

Nishikori, meanwhile won his bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Games and will look to go one better in his home country of Japan. He beat Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 7-6 (9/7), 6-0 and will now face Djokovic.

“I’m looking forward to playing tomorrow. It wasn’t easy playing singles and doubles. I know it’s going to a tough one. He’s the number one player. He’s the toughest guy in the draw so I have to play my best.”

The two have been meeting throughout their careers, meeting 18 times in total. The Serbian has dominated the proceedings with 16 wins and only 2 losses. The losses came at 2011 Basel and the 2014 US Open.

There is a chance of periodic rain, the first forecast which could hinder play at the venue in Tokyo. The weather for the first week has been remarkable from 31-35 degree Celsius. There have been light winds which has made conditions tough at times, but that is set to reduce in this week.

The match will hopefully get a clearer weather than predicted ahead of the mouthwatering battle.
