Why Ole Romeny would be a future investment for Norwich City

As per Voetbal International (h/t The PinkUn), Norwich City are keen on signing NEC Nijmegen starlet Ole Romeny in the summer.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks of DVOL Lent and NEC Nijmegen’s youth system. He has been brilliant with the club’s youth sides and was promoted to the club’s senior set-up in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has been impressive for the Dutch second-tier club.

The youngster’s impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention across Europe. And several clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, Leeds United and Brentford are also interested in signing the forward, as per the report. Thus, the Canaries should make a swift move for Romeny and secure his services in the summer.

The Canaries, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing campaign so far. With just 5 wins and 20 losses in the league this term, Norwich are at the foot of the Premier League table and are facing the risk of getting relegated to the Championship.

Daniel Farke’s men did a decent job earlier in the campaign but the results didn’t last long. With the season coming to an end and with the possibility of a return to the second division, the manager should look at the future of the club. He should bring in reinforcements in the form of youngsters, who could be valuable for the club’s future.

Romney could be a future leader in Norwich’s attack

One area the manager should focus on strengthening is the centre-forward position. Teemu Pukki and Josip Drmic are the two main strikers available at the manager’s disposal. While the Finnish international has been a regular, scoring 11 goals so far, Swiss forward Drmic has not received enough game time.

However, Pukki is already 30 and the club should find a replacement for the former Celtic man. And bringing in youngsters would do them a world of good. In that regard, 20-year-old Romeny would be a viable option. His major breakthrough came last season, where he featured in 23 league games, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists.

The Dutch U20 international continued with the fine form this season and bagged 8 goals and 2 assists in 27 league games in the Netherlands’ second tier. He is also capable of operating on either flank and could be a valuable addition to the Canaries in the future.
