Norwich City Opinion: Two players Daniel Farke should sign this summer

Norwich City booked their place in the Premier League for next season when they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Saturday. The Canaries’ place was secured, along with Sheffield United, with Leeds United missing out and facing having to go through the play-offs.

After a disappointing finish of 14th place in his debut season at Carrow Road, Daniel Farke masterminded a stunning promotion campaign for Norwich City that looked very much out of likelihood after the team’s sluggish start to the season.

The next big challenge for the Canaries will be to survive in the Premier League. They cannot afford to make the same mistakes they did back in 2015 when they earned promotion under Alex Neil. Spending sky high won’t be ideal to move forward; instead the club should invest smartly on the areas that need strengthening.

Signing the players that will fit Farke’s style of play at the club is an absolute necessity. To that end, here are two players Norwich should sign this summer in order to rub shoulders with the big boys in the top-flight.

1. Kasey Palmer (Chelsea)

Norwich City have an exciting side that needs some quality additions over the summer to sustain in the Premier League next season. Even though the midfield is well-stocked, an addition of a further body won’t do much harm, as squad depth will be very important to tackle the demands of the top-flight.

That being said, Farke should make a move for Chelsea starlet Kasey Palmer, who is currently on loan at Bristol City.

Palmer, 22, who is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea’s senior team, has been on loan at Huddersfield Town, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers before joining Bristol City in January 2019. The England U-21 international fits the bill perfectly at Carrow Road.

The box-to-box midfielder has already been linked with a move to Norwich. Palmer would be a real coup if Farke manages to sign him in the summer.

2. Robin Olsen (AS Roma)

It appears as if Farke has started plotting his potential summer transfer targets, with The Pink Un reporting that Norwich are interested in signing AS Roma goalkeeper, Robin Olsen.

Robin Olsen Roma

Olsen only arrived at Roma last summer after helping Sweden reach the quarter finals of the World Cup. But he has failed to impress as a replacement for Alisson who joined Liverpool at the start of this season.

The Sweden international is a reliable goalkeeper, who’ll certainly be an upgrade over Tim Krul.

Krul has been really solid between the sticks for the Canaries in their promotion-winning campaign, but if the opportunity to sign Olsen arises, Farke shouldn’t hesitate twice to bring the 29-year-old to the Premier League.
