Before going to New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire, in 2011, Vonleh attended Haverhill High School.

Vonleh declined offers from schools including Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, and Ohio State in favour of Indiana University on November 10, 2012, when he signed a letter of intent to play for them. He declared, “Their academics are fantastic, they’re the No. 1 team in the country, and they’ve got another great class coming in next year” after committing to Indiana.

Coaches and the media honoured Vonleh as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and third team All-Big Ten in his lone season at Indiana. He played 26.5 minutes per game in 30 games (29 starts), averaging 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks.

On April 3, 2014, Vonleh announced his intention to forgo his remaining three years of NCAA eligibility and enter the NBA draught.

Noah Vonleh Professional Career

The Charlotte Hornets selected Vonleh ninth overall in the NBA draft on June 26, 2014. On July 25, 2014, the Hornets acquired him. A sports hernia was successfully repaired after surgery on September 2, 2014, though he needed six to eight weeks to recover. On December 28, 2014, he was transferred to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League after only four appearances for the Hornets to begin the 2014-15 season. Three days later, he received another call.

The Portland Trail Blazers acquired Nicolas Batum on June 24, 2015 in exchange for Vonleh and Gerald Henderson. On November 15, 2015, he made his first career start against his former team, the Charlotte Hornets. He finished with nine points and six rebounds in just under 24 minutes of action.

On January 23, 2016, he set a season high with 11 points against the Los Angeles Lakers. Maurice Harkless replaced Vonleh in the starting lineup late in March.

Vonleh was traded to the Chicago Bulls on February 8, 2018, in exchange for Milovan Rakovi’s draught rights and financial considerations.

On July 24, 2018, Vonleh signed with the New York Knicks. On January 25, 2019, he had a career-high 22 points and 13 rebounds in a 109-99 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
