Hiromu Takahashi cleared to make return to NJPW after lengthy spell on the sidelines

Hiromu Takahashi will return to NJPW after he received medical clearance to make his way back to the company.

He announced on Twitter obviously delighted with the news, saying:

“【good news】 The doctor gave me permission to return! Let’s go crazy again. Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”

New Japan Pro Wrestling, later confirmed the news about his clearance. He was forced to vacate his  IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship after suffering a torn pectoral.

Takahashi suffered a shoulder injury in a tag match on February 19 Road at the Castle Attack event. The current Junior Heavyweight Championship holder, El Desperado, captured the title three days after it was vacated beating El Phantasmo and Bushi.

Takahashi has faced a lengthy spell out, missing 16 months of action in 2018/2019 due to a severe neck injury.

Takahashi is a four-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and has won the 2018 and 2020 Best of the Super Juniors tournaments.

With his return, it is known that he will be back near the Championship scene, which he technically never lost. He will be highly motivated to win the title and become a 5-time Champion.

Hiromu Takahashi vs El Desperado

El Desperado has set the division alight with his impressive reign as Champion. But, after the return of Takahashi, he will know that there is another contender who can seriously challenge him for his throne. Takahashi has been out of action for almost six months, but will adapt to the current scenario in no time.

El Desperado is on a hot-streak and will take some stopping. Takahashi, who is almost a veteran in the division will look to use his expertise upon his return and reclaim his title back from El Desperado. The two have a past history, having begun the careers together and will know each other’s game well. It will be a mouthwatering clash of the two Junior IWGP heavyweights.
