Stephon Gilmore, the former defensive player of the year winner, recently joined the Indianapolis Colts.

Stephon Gilmore recently signed a 2-year contract worth $23 million with the Indianapolis Colts, which has increased the chances of the Colts contending for a Super Bowl this season.

The Indianapolis Colts also acquired Matt Ryan from the Falcons, as they are continuously pushing to make their squad one of the best around the league.

Last year the Colts suffered an astonishing meltdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as they lost to the worst team in the league in the final game of the regular season, which knocked them out of playoff contention. Since then they have made many changes around the roster of the team, as they want to make a push for the Super Bowl this year.

The acquisition of Gilmore will transcend their defense to the next level, as they prepare to face a tough AFC which has many great quarterbacks like Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow, Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, etc.

Talking about his decision to join the Colts, Stephon Gilmore said, “I think the Colts came in and I talked to the coaches and it just felt right, It was one of those things where it just felt right in my heart to come here, especially with the talent on the team. Watching them from afar last year, what they did and they were right there, I just wanted to come in and try to help the team get over that hump.”

“We have a lot of great players on the defensive side of the ball…”- Stephen Gilmore

The former Defensive Player of the League, Stephen Gilmore talked about how he can contribute to the Colts and make them a better team and said, “You have to prove yourself every year, so I take that mindset into each and every year, I’ve got to earn it. You can’t do that until you put the work in, until you go out each and every week and earn it.”

He added, “We have a lot of great players on the defensive side of the ball and with my skillset, I think I can play anything they want me to play, I’m just looking forward to just getting better as an individual, working on my technique and playing the scheme the right way.”

Things are looking quite bright for the Colts on both ends of the field, and if they can get things to click, they will be one of the best teams in the league next season.
