When Mac Jones was replaced by Bailey Zappe in the Patriots’ encounter against Chicago Bears, many speculated that just like the fans, coach Bill Belichick has lost all confidence in his #1 Quarterback, who has been struggling via injuries. However, ahead of Week 8 matchup the veteran coach has managed to clear some of the air.

To bring everyone on the same page, Mac Jones suffered from a high ankle sprain suffered on September 25, 2022. After he was side-lined, backup QB – Zappe managed to earn his name for everyone. So, now even when Mac Jones was on the field against the Bears, majority of the fans cheered and called for Bailey Zappe to replace him. And when Bill did so, it seemed like he had made his choice for #1 QB.

Ahead of Patriots’ Week 8 clash against the in-form Jets, Bill Belichick made it clear that Mac Jones will start on Sunday and cited his health as the reason why he pulled the latter out of the contest against Chicago Bears.

Bill Belichick gives update on Mac Jones health

Bill Belichick spoke about the health about his #1 QB – Mac Jones and satted, as per ESPN, “He was ready to play last week, but just didn’t feel it was the full game. This week is a different situation. Mac took a full workload yesterday, and I expect him to be fully available for the game and ready to go.”

Given that this could be Mac Jones’ last chance of redemption for securing his #1 spot in the starting line-up – can he lead the Patriots to another win in the tightly contested 2022-23 season? Will be an interesting story to unfold, especially when the HC has shown trust in his abilities.

Belichick then added Jones’ ability to handle a full workload Wednesday was important for both the quarterback, and the entire offense. “He’s ready to do that, so that’s what he needs to prepare for the game and that’s what our offensive unit needs-everybody working together. We’ll get that this week,” he said. “That’s where we’re at. We’re getting ready for the Jets. Period.”
