But in the surprising turn of events, in an interview with Audacy’s “The Morning Mash Up,” Lovato revealed that the process of explaining and educating others about “they/them” pronouns became exhausting for her.

While interviewing with the Spout Podcast, Demi stated, “Recently, I’ve been feeling more feminine, so I’ve adopted she/her again.” But there was certainly more to this statement! She later went on to explain more reasons behind the big change. While using “they/them” pronouns initially felt right for Lovato, she expressed the challenges of navigating the complexities and misunderstandings associated with gender-neutral pronouns. She also acknowledges the potential confusion around her pronoun use but expects understanding rather than ignorance.
