There is no denying that the sport of basketball has always been contested by professional who are 6’7 and beyond. Perhaps this is just the shortest ever NBA player Muggsy Bogues made a name for himself. Not only did he play against the likes of Michael Jordan but he also averaged more than 7 points per game. To think about it – with a close to 7 feet or beyond professional protecting the rim, even the silkiest of players find it difficult to find the rim. However, Muggsy being just 5’3 refused to bow out.
To those who are not aware, the shortest NBA player of all time – Muggsy Bogues was the 12th overall pick by the Washington Bullets in the 1987 draft. He did not represent them, but went onto also play for Warriors and Raptors during his NBA stint.

While many might look down on his numbers, but one think to know is that – Muggsy played in an era which was utterly physical. Stars like Patrick Ewing and Dennis Rodman were known to be some the ‘dirtiest’ players who would get physical in a contest.
Using his size to his advantage, the shortest NBA player of all-time was considered a great passer and stealer. Bogues averaged 7.7 PPG but notched an amazing 7.6 APG. He even recorded 39 blocks in his playing career against Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks.
While many might remember Michael Jordan or LeBron James as the GOAT, Muggsy Bogues went onto open the door for other professional to believe in themselves and make their way into the toughest basketball league without any hesitations.
