Who did the Phoenix Suns trade in exchange for Kevin Durant?

The Phoenix Suns made the biggest statement of the trade window as they swooped up the mercurial Kevin Durant only hours before the deadline. Durant, whose future at the Brooklyn Nets grew to be more and more in doubt after his friend and teammate Kyrie Irving left the Nets for the Dallas Mavericks last week – sealed a move to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night.

Chris B Haynes reported that the move from Brooklyn to Phoenix was a collaborative one between Durant’s camp and the Nets. The move to the Suns was something both sides were interested in pursuing and he and the Nets left on good terms. However, the question that many fans have asked since the move got confirmed, is who did the Suns trade for Durant?

It was revealed that the Suns acquired forwards Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren from the Brooklyn Nets in a four-team trade with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers. Brooklyn receives forwards Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, multiple first-round picks (2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029) and a first-round pick swap in 2028 from Phoenix, as well as second-round picks from Milwaukee, in the exchange.

As part of the deal, veteran forward Jae Crowder heads to the Bucks, with the Indiana Pacers also netting second-round picks.

How will the signing of Kevin Durant affect the Phoenix Suns?

The signing of Kevin Durant is a statement one, and it will certainly help the Suns push themselves to the next level.

With the addition of Kevin Durant, the Suns suddenly look like Championship contenders

The 34-year-old Durant is still playing at an elite level, averaging nearly 30 points per game this season. While the Suns are currently at fifth in the Western Conference with a 30-26 record, despite having had plenty of injury issues of late – the quartet of Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton immediately makes them a Championship contender team.

Phoenix has infamously never won an NBA Championship. The Suns made the Finals two seasons ago, but lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games. They also played in the Finals in a losing cause in 1976 and 1993 – but if everything works out according to plan, there is a general feeling that the Suns might just win their first Championship sooner than later.
