Kevin Durant is once again in the news and this time it is courtesy of Shannon Sharpe who brought up an interesting achievement that Steph Curry has over his former teammate KD.
Speaking on an episode of Undisputed: Skip and Shannon with Skip Bayless, the NBA analyst ripped into the Brooklyn Nets superstar, accusing him of missing a certain achievement in his career that his former teammate and Golden State Warriors man Steph Curry has over him.
When asked on the episode whether he would rather have Steph or KD on his team, Sharpe said that he resonates with Shaq over naming Curry as the best player in the world and he feels that Kevin Durant misses the ability to carry a team all by himself to the NBA Finals.
WHAT EXACTLY IS SHARPE’S ARGUMENT?
According to Sharpe, Durant leaving the Golden State Warriors for the Brooklyn Nets was his opportunity to do what Steph Curry did for the Warriors lead a team without another superstar to the NBA Finals.
Sharpe asked when is Kevin Durant going to do that and dug into the Nets man by saying that even though Durant is a brilliant forward who can get people talking about him by putting the ball through the basket from anywhere, it does not amount to anything as he can’t win the title for a franchise all by himself.
Sharpe questioned Durant: “where are the trophies?”, and dug into KD further when he said even though people say “he’s a unicorn or he’s an anomaly”, he still has not won a franchise the NBA title all by himself.
Durant and Curry won the NBA championship together for the Warriors in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018, before losing the 2019 Finals to Toronto Raptors.
