It was the first meeting between the two sides since they agreed to a massive trade that sent Ben Simmons and James Harden to Brooklyn and Philadelphia respectively. While Simmons didn’t feature in the game, he received a hostile reception from the Philly faithful.

However, by the end of the night, Kevin Durant and Co ensured that the local supporters were quietened. The two-time NBA champion hit out at the Philly fans for calling out Simmons and then slammed the Sixers’ game plan as well.

Kevin Durant hammers Sixers’ game strategy

While speaking to reporters after the Nets’ impressive win over the Sixers, Durant added more fuel to the burning rivalry when he criticized the Sixers’ game strategy. He took shots at the offense of Doc Rivers‘ side and hammered their style of play, especially when it comes to them running their offense.

We ran them. They’re really not a good transition team,” said Durant. Durant also backed Simmons, who was constantly being booed and jeered at by the Philly supporters.

Ben already knew that we had his back, but it just felt good to quiet all of them down midway through the game. It was very quiet towards the end, we didn’t hear any more Ben Simmons chants from the Sixers fans. It was more Nets fans in here than anything.” Durant concluded.

The Sixers were struggling to get going offensively and former Nets star James Harden had a torrid night. He managed just 11 points and shot 3-14 for the Sixers while having 4 turnovers.
