The New York Knicks are all-in for Jalen Brunson, and there is a high possibility that the Mavs star will sign with the Knicks.
Everyone is well aware of the fact that the New York Knicks are heavily pursuing Jalen Brunson. The Mavs star is a free agent, and the Knicks are offloading players to create space in their salary cap for Brunson.
The interest is mutual in both the parties, and it’s very likely we will see Brunson playing in MSG in front of the loud Knicks fans. The NY Knicks also sacrificed the 2022 NBA Draft in order to land Brunson, and they are close to it.
Marc Stein in his newsletter wrote, “One source close to the process described that threat as “very, very, very real.” The Knicks are increasingly expected to assemble a four-year offer to Brunson valued in the $100 million range, sources said.”
He added, “But further boosting New York’s chances is a growing belief among some close to the situation that Brunson wants this move to Madison Square Garden despite his considerable rise in prominence as a Maverick and Dallas’ ability to outbid the Knicks, enticed by the opportunity to become New York’s unquestioned lead guard on top of strong family ties.”
Is Jalen Brunson the answer for the Knicks?
The New York Knicks are messed up. Even though they made the playoffs two seasons ago, last season was a disaster for them. They need a point guard, and maybe Jalen Brunson is that guy to help them.
However, Brunson can elevate them to a further level, but he isn’t the man that can lead them to a championship. RJ Barrett is the face of the franchise, and he’ll get help from Brunson, but the Knicks to make some more major moves.
It will be interesting to see what the New York Knicks do this offseason, and if they don’t get Jalen Brunson, then it would be a huge disaster for the franchise.
