What injury did the Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George pick up and when will he return – here is the update.
Los Angeles Clippers guard Paul George is set to miss the next 2-3 weeks after suffering a sprained right knee in Tuesday’s 101-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He could potentially miss the remainder of the regular season and a timetable for his return in the postseason will become clearer once he is re-evaluated, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
The injury happened when George’s leg collided with Oklahoma City Thunder guard Lu Dort’s leg and caused his knee to buckle, in what looked like a very awkward and painful knock. “I went up for the rebound, kind of hit his leg,” Dort said after the game. “I didn’t do it on purpose, definitely an accident.” George’s teammate Kawhi Leonard said he hadn’t spoken to George afterwards. as he said: “I didn’t see the play. I just thought he got hit in the face at the time.”
PG-13 was helped off the court by Clippers staff as it seemed he couldn’t put any weight on his right leg, but not before posting 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 34 minutes. The six-time All-Star took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the fans after “Prayers for PG” was trending on Twitter.
How has Paul George fared for the Los Angeles Clippers this season?
PG-13 has averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 56 games this season.
Before Tuesday’s one-point loss, the Los Angeles Clippers had won five of their last six games and will have to continue to notch wins to stay out of the play-in tournament. Luckily, Kawhi Leonard is healthy and they will hopefully be welcoming back guard Norman Powell soon, which will help them to retain their fifth seed in the Western Conference.
The Clippers faithful will however be buoyed by the fact that six of the Clippers’ final 10 games are at home, including a four-game homestand that began with Tuesday’s loss.
