Patrick Beverley lauded a particular ability of his new teammate LeBron James only after a few practice sessions.

Patrick Beverley joined the Los Angeles Lakers in a sensational trade deal this summer, boosting the Lakers’ ranks in the backcourt as they try and build a strong roster to challenge for the NBA Championship again. Beverley’s trade to the Lakers meant that he would have to link up with one of the greats of the modern game – and as it turns out, he is certainly enjoying the practice.

The former Minnesota Timberwolves star – who had an on-court spat or two with LeBron during the Timberwolves’ outings against the Lakers – has only spent a few practice sessions in the presence of LeBron, but it turns out that he is already awestruck by one of the greatest ever. However, more than his overall play, it is a particular attribute of LeBron’s that impressed him.

When speaking to the media after a practice session with the Lakers, Beverley was asked about how high LeBron ranked in the list of the offensive players – especially on the wings – that the point guard has ever played with. And as it turns out, Beverley showered the highest praise on the four-time NBA champion – something very uncharacteristic of him unless it’s deserved.

What did Patrick Beverley have to say about LeBron James’ offensive play compared to other players?

When asked to compare LeBron with other offensive players in the league and how it is to play alongside him in practice, Beverley pointed out a particular attribute of LeBron’s.

Beverley stated: “It’s just high IQ basketball. One thing I’ve learned about him seeing through the game; he’s an elite passer. Probably one of the best to ever do it – for his height and size.”

The point guard added: “Knowing when to string angles, knowing when to roll – when you look up, the ball will be right on your chest. That’s just the nature of the business when you’re playing with LeBron.”

Even at 37, LeBron is still at the topmost level – a fact that will excite Lakers fans going into the new season as they await his link-up with new man Beverley.
