Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan on the same team? Wouldn’t that be an All-Star team in itself during the 1990’s?

Magic Johnson has shared the reason why he never wished to play alongside the legends of the game. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and many others had their role in their teams. However, Johnson wished to be the underdog and chase victory. He was a person who believed if there is a game to be won, the team don’t need 5 stars on the court to achieve that.

“No, no, you know what, I wasn’t a guy like that. I never wanted to play with nobody but my dudes. I was good. I’ve always been a dude wherever I end up, that’s what I’m rolling with. Even pick-up games. I never tried to get all the name dudes.” Magic shared on ‘All The Smokes’ episode no. 165.

“I tried to get dudes who wanted to play. I liked that underdog thing anyway. Come on, let’s go beat these dudes over here. And so that was always my mindset and I’m glad. But I would say this, that’s what makes sports special. Not, everybody joining each other. Go make it happen.”

“He’s coming down the right side, he takes off. David Robinson coming this way [left]. So Mike just cups and he just looked at him. And kept looking. Kept looking. He went all the way down, Jack [talking to Stephen Jackson], he did a 360… Bam! I said, ‘that’s it. That’s it. It’s over now.’”

“So he just looked at me too, and let me know… He said, ‘I just want y’all to know, there’s a new sheriff in town.’ He said, ‘it’s my league now. MJ you had your turn, Larry Bird, you had your turn. Now it’s my league.’ And we all bowed down.”
