The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in their latest clash at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday night. The Mavericks ended a two-game losing streak and returned to winning ways in a 117-112 win over the Trail Blazers, courtesy of their talisman Luka Doncic coming up clutch once again with yet another triple-double in his Mavs career.

The big Slovenian who has been one of the early contenders for this season’s Most Valuable Player award was at his best yet again as he racked up a tally of 42 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists to boost the Mavs to the win. Doncic was head and shoulders above every other player on the court – and that takes some doing considering the talent on display by both teams.

Doncic recorded a sensational triple-double where he also successfully made 13 of his 22 attempted field goals at a rate of 58%. The triple-double not only helped the Mavericks secure a much-needed win, but it also helped Doncic establish his name in franchise history even further as the player with the most triple-doubles in the franchise’s history – and by some margin.

How did Doncic establish himself in franchise history with the triple-double?

The triple double was the 49th of Doncic’s career with the Dallas Mavericks, at least nine ahead of every single player in franchise history combined.

The 49th triple double of Doncic’s career was not only enough to help the Mavericks to a win that helped them break a losing streak, but it was also enough to extend Doncic’s record as the player with the highest number of triple doubles in franchise history. In fact, with his latest triple double, Doncic is now nine ahead of the combined tally of other players in franchise history.

Doncic’s performances this season – averaging 34.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game – have made one of the early contenders for this season’s Most Valuable Player award, and he will certainly hope to carry his team into the Playoffs by keeping up this kind of form.
