The Boston Celtics had a very special group of players during the 2008–2011 period. The big three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen were quite special. They also had other good players like Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins on their team who were vital parts.

Even though they were able to only win one championship together, that Celtics team was special, and everyone can agree to it. With all these star players on a team, there is always going to be a problem in handling their egos.

That’s what happened on a regular basis for them. Apparently, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen had a huge beef with each other. It got to a point where the Celtics player made them box out each other to resolve their issues.

Kendrick Perkins, during his appearance on JJ Reddick’s podcast, talked about that instance. He said, “When things started to go south, in my opinion, the first incident was when Ray was pushing so hard to trade Rondo for [Chris Paul],” Perkins said. “It got back to Rondo. Right there we started having a little friction.”

He added, “We made Ray and Rondo actually box it out. They had so much beef we got to the practice facility, we brought the boxing gloves and they had to box it out because we didn’t want to the tension no more.”

Kendrick Perkins claims that every member of the Celtics team is now cool with each other

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were not happy with the decision of Ray Allen to join forces with LeBron James and play for the Miami Heat. As a result, they didn’t speak to each other for a long time, but Perkins revealed that now everybody is cool with each other.

Perkins said, “I’m glad we got it back together now. Ray, you saw him at the Boston game, he went and supported [Kevin Garnett]. Everybody’s back on talking terms.”

That team entertained many people during their time together, and every fan loved it when they got to know that all those players were now back on good terms with each other. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett also made the top-75 players list of the NBA which was revealed prior to the All-Star game last season.

How did that Boston Celtics come to an end?

As stated earlier, that Boston Celtics team was quite special. They were able to win only one championship, but that was for many reasons. They had to face Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers twice in the NBA finals.

They won the first meeting but lost the second time around, and that was their last appearance in the NBA Finals. They had to regularly come up against LeBron James in the East, and it was no easy task. The Celtics’ title hopes were shattered once LeBron teamed up with D Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

Their team started breaking up when Kendrick Perkins and Ray Allen left. In 2013, the Boston Celtics traded both their superstars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics got good draft picks in return, which they used to draft Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who took them to the NBA Finals recently.

Life came full circle for the Boston Celtics as the players that helped them to reach the NBA Finals in 2010 eventually ended up helping the franchise to draft two young superstars who’ll carry the franchise on their shoulders for a long time.
