When Shaq slap Greg Ostertag: Shaquille O’Neal Wanted to Slap Greg Ostertag during their Playing days

Undoubtedly one of the most dominant players in NBA history is Shaquille O’Neal. He was an irresistible force that completely overran the league. Only a few centres could say they stopped the big guy, who had a 19-year NBA career, intimidated many opponents, and averaged 24 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks a game.

Only in rare cases, though, some centres proved capable of handling the job, such as Greg Ostertag, who dispatched Shaq to the golf course while he participated in the Western Conference Finals.

Shaq was considered to be undefeated but to undermine that fear of other players, Greg Ostertag made attempts to defeat Shaquille. After Greg defeated him, there was no way that he would stop boasting about defeating Shaq.

In response to this, it was embarrassing for Shaq, who, as described in the book Three-Ring Circus, continued thinking about Ostertag’s remarks. Greg, though, was given the taste of his actions of boasting and exaggerating about his wins over Shaq during the preseason.

Shaquille O’Neal is not the kind of a man who can easily forget mistakes. Greg Ostertag discovered this the hard way as Shaq effectively removed retribution for all of his boastfulness. How? During a preseason game, Shaq slaps Greg Ostertag.

Shaq’s Apology

After Shaq slaps Greg Ostertag, he has also made an apology to Greg for what he has done. O’Neal expressed regret for smacking the Utah Jazz centre to the ground at the Great Western Forum during practice sessions in a written apology that was as sweet-toothed as the Pepsi he advertises.

Despite the apology, the NBA fined Shaquille O’Neal $10,000 and suspended him for one game without pay.
