“That’s my brother”- Joel Embiid shares his appreciation towards Jimmy Butler following playoff exit 

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers were knocked out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat in Game 6 at Philly.

The Philadelphia 76ers‘ season ended yesterday as they lost game 6 at home to the Miami Heat. Former 76ers player Jimmy Butler came back to Philly and knocked them out after they didn’t try to resign him in 2019.

The Philadelphia 76ers instead chose to keep Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris, and it has come to haunt them. Ben Simmons is already in Brooklyn, and Tobias’ role has been reduced massively with the arrival of James Harden.

Joel Embiid during his post-match conference talked about Jimmy Butler and said, “Obviously that’s my guy, that’s my brother, I mean, it’s tough. But I’m so proud of him. He’s playing at an unreal level right now. He’s something else right now. And I’m proud of him for being at this level and carrying them and what he’s been able to do.“

He added, “I’m happy for him. I won’t sit here and say I didn’t wish he was my teammate. I still don’t know how we let him go. But I wish I could have gone to battle with him still. But it is what it is. Just gotta keep building and keep trying to reach that goal.”

“I’m proud of him”- Jimmy Butler on Joel Embiid

Jimmy Butler was a big part of the 76ers success in 2019, where they got knocked out by that Kawhi buzzer-beater in Toronto. He was let walk away in the free agency, and he signed with the Miami Heat. Butler came back to haunt his old franchise and knocked them out in front of their fans.

Butler post-game talked about Embiid and said, “I’m proud of him. Yes, yes, yes, I still wish I was on his team. I definitely love the Miami Heat, though, man. I’m glad that I’m here. But I got so much respect and love for Joel Embiid.”

The Philadelphia 76ers once again got knocked in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and things aren’t looking bright for them. Notably, James Harden has struggled massively. His future with the franchise remains uncertain, as he’ll be a free agent this summer.
