Dwight Howard’s debut for the Taoyuan Leopards left the basketball community stunned as the former NBA star racked up an incredible 38-point near triple double.
Dwight Howard stirred up a storm in his very first appearance for the Taoyuan Leopards in the Taiwanese T1 League. The former NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers who opted to go to Taiwan after being a free agent in the twilight years of his career has had an incredible start to life in Taiwan, and his very first game left fans stunned about how good he still is.
Howard who joined the Taiwanese side only earlier this month lined up for his first game in the T1 League – and stole all the headlines with an incredible performance. The 36-year-old Howard racked up a tally of 38 points, 25 rebounds, and 9 assists on his debut for the Leopards – accumulating a set of numbers that read increasingly unbelievable with every category.
Not only did Howard almost rack up a 40/20/10 triple-double, but he also put up extraordinary shooting numbers for the night. Howard attempted 32 shots, made 8 out of his 12 attempted free throws, and made 10 three-pointers with the crowd cheering him on every time he aimed.
Though his numbers are a bit of a revelation, the former NBA champion’s instant impact in the T1 League is not surprising considering the experience that Howard boasts of in his NBA career.

Since being drafted into the NBA by the Orlando Magic in 2004, Howard spent six straight years with the Magic–even helping them reach the NBA Finals. After eight years with the Magic, Howard was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers with whom he spent three separate year-stints throughout his career – and also won the NBA Championship as recently as 2020.
During his career, Howard also turned out for the Houston Rockets, the Atlanta Hawks, the Charlotte Hornets, the Washington Wizards, and the Philadelphia 76ers and won eight All-Star selections throughout his career – adding to a career that will certainly help the Taiwanese side onto bigger things.
